2025 Alumni Day Event Details

We had a great alumni day 2025! Our next one will be 2027. These details are from the 2025 day and are here to help you plan for our next one.
Who: Any past member of the Kansas State University Bands Program including color guard, Classy Cats, and twirlers!
What: A football game day just like the old days!
When: August 30th, 2025
Where: Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Manhattan, KS
Why: Remember how much fun it was to play those school songs and connect with old friends.
How: Sing up at the link below!
Uniform
  • NEW Alumni Band T-Shirt (available to purchase within registration form)
  • Black nice shorts (no gym/spandex/lycra or short-shorts) or pants
  • Comfortable close-toed athletic-type shoes (remember, lots of walking and marching!).
  • You may wish to wear a hat and sunglasses, and those are fine as long as there are no inappropriate logos on them.
  • UPDATE AS OF DT's RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT (AUGUST 13th): Participants are free to wear a past band/K-State shirt to honor Dr. Tracz's legacy of over 30 years with the K-State band program. We do plan to wear the T-Shirt that was new this year at the next alumni event in two years (so if you purchased one this year it won't be in vain!). Unfortunately, we cannot process refunds for the T-Shirts already purchased. Feel free to wear them at the alumni event, and enjoy wearing the shirt in your everyday life to showcase you are an alumni of the best band in the land!
Tickets
  • Game Tickets must be purchased
  • No complimentary tickets
  • A discount rate is available through athletics using this link https://k-st.at/FB25ALUMBAND.
  • If you already have season tickets, or have already purchased tickets, you do not need to order these promo tickets.
What to Bring On Gameday
  • Water bottle! We will have one water bottle and one Gatorade for each participating member. Refill stations will be available. However, you may want to bring your own water bottle to refill.
  • Hat/Sunglasses/Cooling towels/Sun screen: It will be HOT! We will be outside all day. The Brandenberry Indoor Baseball facility is small and alumni band will be eating outside and hanging out outside in between rehearsal and game time.
  • Reeds/Flip Folder/Lyre/Printed Music: We will provide instruments to all who marked they needed one; however, we will NOT provide reeds, flip folders, lyres, or printed music. But, hey, fake it 'til you make it.
Music
  • Music is now available! It is password protected. The music and password information cannot be posted on social media or anywhere public.
  • The information has been emailed out to registered participants as of August 20th. We will continue to send the email to those who register past this update.
Questions?
  • Please do not direct questions to the band office.
  • Any questions about music, schedule, uniform, etc should come to the KSUAB staff, either to [email protected] or on our Facebook group page.
Schedule/Locations/Information
9:00-11:00am - Band Hall "Open House" at Tracz Family Band Hall. The Band Hall will informally be open for alumni to hang out, catch up, and see DT to wish him well in retirement!
12:00 - Registration opens at Brandenberry Indoor Baseball facility (we will mostly be OUTSIDE this facility as this is a smaller building). This is where you'll pick up instruments if you are borrowing an instrument.
1:00 - Rehearsal at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. We will enter through Gate D ALL TOGETHER and this will take us down many stairs. We will go through metal detectors. No bags allowed at this time (obviously, medical exemptions allowed). We will leave bags inside Brandenberry and they will be attended. Just instruments and water bottles for rehearsal.
2:30 - Alumni picture after rehearsal! Meet in the stands directly after rehearsal for a picture
3:00- Meal right outside Brandenberry Indoor Baseball
3:30ish - Alumni Meeting and Officers Elections outside Brandenberry Indoor Baseball
4:30 - Pep bands around the parking lot (optional)
5:00 - Block band, march over (march and enter stadium through tunnel, wait in tunnel for a while...)
5:30ish - Pre-Game!! (Head back to your ticketed seats after this, sousaphones and percussion only will be left on field in front of section 26). DO NOT PLAY IN THE STANDS. The team could incur a penalty.
6:00 - Kick Off!!
Halftime - Make your way down to the field for half time. After, we will have an opportunity to play with the KSUMB OR you may head back to your ticketed seat (OR you may head home...you're not as young as you used to be!)
10:00ish - Band Hall Open for hanging out after the game!
FAQ's
  • I want to participate, but I don't think I can physically participate/play like I used to! Can I still register? Yes! We always have non-performing members. You can join us for all that you are comfortable/able to. If you need to sit down at any time, go for it! If you want to stand with us but not play, go for it! If you want to be with us for rehearsal and pregame and don't make it to halftime, that's ok! We're not in band anymore! It's not a grade anymore!
  • Where do I sit? You will march in with the band and enter through the tunnel before pregame. After we play pregame, we will then go up to our seats listed on whatever tickets you purchased. That means we will not be sitting together. We will make our way down for halftime. After playing halftime, we will be welcomed to sit with the current band OR you can go back to your seats OR you can leave!
  • Where do I park? We are on our own for parking. We are there early, so luckily it's fairly open. I am always able to find street parking.
KSUAB Meeting and Officers Elections
  • If you want to be a KSUAB officer for the 2025-2027 term (September to September, two years) please let me know you are interested by game day. We WILL have officer openings as we have officers retiring.
  • You don't have to decide now (though it would be helpful!), but be thinking about it. And if you know anyone that is interested, but isn't available to attend this year, have them contact me as well.
  • We have five officer positions - President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Events Coordinator, and Member-at-Large - and all five are up for election at this biennial reunion in accordance with our organization bylaws.
  • Only participating members present can vote!
  • UPDATE AS OF DT's RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT (AUGUST 13th): There have been many proud band alumni who have reached out about honoring Dr. Tracz's legacy with a gift. We will discuss at our meeting what we may want to present to DT on behalf of the alumni.
